"
HE'S the best in the world! " No, that's not how I would describe him,
I remember how my Mummy would cry as she stood staring out the window every night.
Sometimes my sister and I would be woken up by shouting. Doors would slam in the middle of night.
I remember one rainy day when I was about five years old. I remember I was frightened by the thunder. My Mummy was shouting. He was shouting back. Suddenly my Mummy picked up her black diary and threw it at him.
I remember, after she calmed down, she said, "Do whatever you like, but please come back." I also remember he said "I can't"
He then left our home. I remember my Mummy calling him on the phone after a while. She asked "Where are you now?" I don't know what he replied but she put down the phone and started crying.
My sister asked her to stop crying, but then she crying too. She was only three at that time. Soon enough, I was crying too.
The next day, I woke up when my Mummy scooped me up from my bed. She helped me get dress. She also did the same things for my sister. She told us we did not need to go to school that day, we were going somewhere else.
We got into my Mummy's car and I fell asleep again. When I woke up, I looked out the window and I saw an aeroplane flying over the car. Soon we were at the airport. Mummy parked her car and we got out. We followed her into the building. After we walked for a long time, I suddenly saw him. I wanted to make a sound but I stopped when I saw him wrap his arms around a woman. I looked at my mother and saw her eyes full with tears.
That was when we turned around and walked away. I never saw him again. That was the day that changed my life forever. Until today, I still struggle, still feel embarrassed, calling that man "
MY FATHER"
